Buescher Serial Number ListYears and Serial Numbers are Approximate.Buescher Trumpet Serial numbers are most often found on the 2nd valve casing - OR if that is buffed off, check on one of the valves themselves! Pull out a valve and look on the section just below the button and stem. In MOST Buecher trumpets in the 1950s and earlier, you can find the serial number here as well. Please see the Bell Logos section to see samples of each Bell Logo.If your Buescher Trumpet/Cornet bares an engraving of an ELK on the bell, please see the note below the serial number chart. About this time Selmer Purchased Buescher-.1950 Serial number is different on various sites. So I have listed BOTH numbers, I think the number MORE accurate would be 326000.Please note that there are a FEW exceptions to this chart.1)Some of the modern Buescher labeled trumpets from the 1970-present that have serial numbers that do not correspond to this chart.

Most seem to have the 'Upsidedown Nike' Bell Logo and are model BU-7. Selmer must have done a serial number 'reset' at some point.2) I have also noticed some of the 1960s 'Side Scroller' and possibly 'Top Scroller' logoed trumpets/cornets that have serial numbers in the 100,000 range. These obviously are NOT subject to this serial number chart. These are most likely mid to late 1960s instruments.3) Most (if not all) Buescher trumpets that have the 'ELK' logo have a separate serial number listing. The ValveBlock on these instruments are made by Elkhart and thus have a completely different numbering system.Any Trumpet or Cornet with the engraving of an ELK (see below) will NOT match up on the Buescher Serial number list.

They also bear the inscription 'BUILT BY BUESCHER'. These instruments had their OWN serial numbering system. Most were made post World War II possibly up to 1960. If you see one of these horns and the owner is claiming they are from the 1920s or 1930s or before, then they are using the wrong serial number chart.

I do not know if an Elkhart Serial number list exists or not.Big Thanks to website for providing some of the serial numbers and years produced.I also gathered information for this page from website that cites Albert Mensinga as the source for MANY of the serial numbers. If you happen to have any additional information that would make this chart MORE accurate, please feel free to email me. Vernon Bach Stradivarious Model # 18530 was built “somewhere” around 1957 (based on your Serial # Data). I plan on selling the Trumpet in the near future, so I am attempting to gather “whatever” information I can find, in an effort to “determine” the Trumpet’s value on today’s market. I have never sold a musical instrument before, so pricing and determining who to trust with my horn, is a real challenge. Any “suggestions” that you might offer, will be greatly appreciated. 10 January, 2014, 14:51I own a B flat mode 37 that as I recall my dad bought for me in the fall of 1964. The serial # is 32339.

The bell is stamped Elkhart Indiana Could it possibly have been built in Mt Vernon??? Production supposedly did not start in Elkhart until 1965??? I also have C model 239L serial number 67749 purchased used in the late 1960’s. Can you tell me when it was manufactured?

It’s bell is also stamped Elkhart. Neither of serial number seem to line up with the timeline on this web sit. Thanks, Paul. 17 October, 2014, 07:23Paul, your 37 was manufacturer’s after 1965. I own a new old stock Bach 37 cornet, absolute pristine. The serial number of my cornet is 30836. The factory shop card indicated that it’s production date is April 15, 1965.

My tax day horn!My guess is that yours was produced late ’65 or sometime ’66, but not 1964. Were some parts from Mt. Maybe but your bell most likely was made in Elkhart Indiana. For what it’s worth, Bach expert/historian Roy Hempley told me that there was much pride in Elkhart and it is thought by many that these very early Elkhart horns were the equal to and perhaps even somewhat better that the Mt. Vernon’s on average. Pride to show the high level craftsmanship that they had knowing how Mt. Vernon horns were revered were motivating factors of the workers. Considering your horns serial number being within a couple of thousand within the 1965 and 30,000 start of production, I’d say that you are the owner of a horn that was made with an extraordinary level of pride or care.Congratulations.

In time, many very knowledgeable Bachophiles will covet these VERY early Elkhart horns as much or MORE than the Mt. Vernon horns provided that the condition of the instrument warrants consideration. 13 October, 2014, 11:09I have a Vincent Bach Mercedes II trumpet Serial No. 632535 ML, bought in Edinburgh around the late 1970s.I have not played for many years now and as it is in brand new condition am about to pass this instrument on to my Grandson who is just learning at school.

I found this site whilst looking for info about the instrument but I am confused by the Serial No. It does not seem to exist on the lists above.the instrument appears to have a one piece bell as the only seam visible runs around the diameter about 2 inches below the bell-end and the whole of the bell tube (from 1st valve to bell-end) appears to be of the darker “gold brass.” Any info regarding this instrument would be greatly appreciated. 24 September, 2015, 21:07I have a Bach Strat model 37 that I purchased in the mid 80’s. Love the horn and have played many a gig with it, but I’m getting old and I laid it aside a couple of years ago.

I recently picked it up again and was wondering if I might be able to obtain some info on it so when I pass it down to my son or grandson, the info can follow the horn. It is a silver plated Bach Strat Model 37 with the Elkhart, Ind logo on the bell. It has the letters MI engraved on the right side of the valves, along with the serial number 211242. According to your chart, it was manufactured in the early 80’s. I would like an approximate value of the horn too, if possible. Thanks! 3 May, 2016, 19:29I still have a Mount Vernon New York Bach Strad that I bought new in the early 60’s – used by me then by my older son and then stored for quite a few years until I resumed playing after retiring around 2001 or so. Now I own a LOT of other trumpets and cornets and buy and sell on eBay.

My Mt Vernon NY trumpet is in truly pristine condition and maybe worth quite a bit of money. It does not have a model No. On it but I have always assumed it is a 37. S/N is 25,363. I’m wondering how to find out about that – because if I decide to sell it people will want to know. The MV Strads S/Ns range from12,615 to 30,030. That’s only about 17,400 total.

How many are 37s, 72s, 43s etc, I wonder? 11 December, 2016, 14:49I have a Mt. Vernon NY Stradivarius Cornet. It is a darker gold with very little silver around the tuning slides.

I played this instrument very heavily through the years of 1977ish through 1985 it shows very little wear on the valves of none. Serial number on the second valve case is L and under that is 16384. Is there a way to find out the history of this instrument. Year it was made and I’m assuming the L refers to large bore, and I’m guessing it’s a pro instrument. Can anyone help me here. 14 March, 2017, 13:57Hi, I have a Mt. Vernon Bach Stradivarius trumpet that my dad and I bought in 1974 for me in High School.

We paid $125 for it from a guy that lived on a sailboat in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. (Cool huh?) It is has serial #18562 throughout the horn valves and on the middle outside valve #18562 Mt. Vernon, NY ML. Pearl tops on the valves. I’ve played mostly in church up until about 4 years ago due to back issues. Love the horn!

Trying to get some more info. Everything works very well. No valve or slide issues. Lots of petina and no dings I can really see. Was re-laquered once about 25 years ago, but has completely worn off it seems.

I also have the original case in decent shape (inside is perfect, outside a little scruffed but nothing major) along with another V.B. Case my wife bought me about 20 years ago, which still looks almost brand new. Two 10 1/2 C Mouthpieces. One is from the 70’s and one was from about 10 years ago that has much larger Vincent Bach lettering on it. I was born in 1958 and this model (from what I can tell) was manufactured approx. At that time?

Not sure Thanks for whatever help you can give!
